AWARDS CRITERIA INDUSTRY OF THE YEAR The Industry of the Year Award will be presented to the industry that has demonstrated upward trends in its employment production. Further, it has exhibited the true meaning of community spirit and cooperation through its continued involvement in community and civic activities while encouraging its own personnel's active involvement. ELIGIBILITY: Any member industry who has provided the best all around opportunities for its personnel, assistance to the community and the Chamber of Commerce, and industry as defined to encompass any manufacturer of goods. CRITERIA: 1) Must be an active member of the Chamber 2) Has a stable growth in employment 3) The company must be a good citizen of the community, is active in supporting charitable and civic events, and in encouraging its personnel to be active within the community. 4) The value of a company's citizenship should be consistent relative to the company's resources. 5) Encourages social and cultural enrichments 6) The company must demonstrate a concern for human resource relations COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD Presented for time and efforts devoted to specific community service that has a positive impact upon many citizens of Richmond . CRITERIA: 1) Devotes relentlessly their time, efforts, and talents towards community service 2) Must enhance the quality of life for the citizens of our community 3) Award may be presented to an individual or organization 4) Chamber membership required BERNEASE WALTERS BEAUTIFICATION AWARD Bernease Walters, a Richmond native, was a civic leader who was proud of her community and sought to continually improve its appearance and image. She provided motivation that encouraged others to join together and create enthusiasm for community beautification. ELIGIBILITY: Any Chamber member business or entity that made physical improvements to their business or property that improves the community's image. CRITERIA: 1) Chamber membership required 2) Improvements made to exterior of the recipient's facilities were finalized within the last 12 months. 3) Efforts must be significant enough to enhance the appearance and image of the community. AGRICULTURE AWARD The Agriculture Award will be presented to the person or Agri-Business that has demonstrated an effort in the community to better further the future of Agriculture in Richmond and Madison County . Further, has truly committed to the upward trends and modern means of keeping Agriculture as our #1 community strong point. ELIGIBILITY: Devotion of time, experience and efforts on local, state and even national level for the betterment of Agriculture through new modern ways of increased production, advancement of markets and programs to help the Agriculture opportunity in Madison County. CRITERIA: 1) An active member in a farm related organization 2) Actively engaged in farming or an agriculture related business 3) Served on committees locally, state, or federal to better facilitate the farmers, programs and market 4) Service to the agriculture community in an unselfish way and often at one's own expense 5) Chamber membership required BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD The Business of the Year Award will be presented to a business that has demonstrated upwards trends in its employment and production. MAFFETT AWARD Wallace G. Maffett had a vision and foresight that created a motive for him to continually seek the best opportunities for Richmond and its citizens. During his 8 years as mayor of Richmond , his leadership set the stage for many opportunities in our city that will be enjoyed for generations to come. This award is presented in his honor to one who best exemplifies his commitment and efforts to the community. ELIGIBILITY: Devotion of time, experience and efforts to Richmond in order to promote and improve the quality of life with no regard of personal gain. CRITERIA: 1) Continual service to the community 2) Exhibits a true interest in Richmond and Madison County 3) Made significant impact on the quality of life in Richmond 4) Served community with unselfish motives 5) Chamber membership required EDUCATION Each year the Chamber recognizes one individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the community through education. The recipient of this award performs a key function in providing an opportunity for the youth of today to become the leaders of tomorrow. ELIGIBILITY: A professional recognized in the field of education who has made a significant contribution through education to improve the Richmond community. CRITERIA: 1) Dedicated and committed to educational profession and the Richmond community 2) Competent and resourceful in providing strong ties between education and the business community 3) Generally recognized by his/her colleagues as an outstanding contributor to the field of education 4) Respected by students and peers 5) Chamber membership not required MINORITY BUSINESS OF THE YEAR The Minority Business of the Year will be presented to a business that has demonstrated upwards trends in its employment and production. Further, it has exhibited the true meaning of community spirit and cooperation and civic activities while encouraging its own personnel's involvement.
